The following are the most common post-grooming occurrences in the grooming Industry
Bleeding nail:
We are always very careful when trimming nails. Occasionally, the quick can be cut, specifically with pets whose nails are not cut every 2-4 weeks or pets that are not fond of getting their nails cut. We will always to tell you even if minimal because sometimes when your pet runs around at home, specifically on pavement or sidewalk, the nails may be worn down, exposing the quick causing it to open up and bleed again. If this happens, please don’t be alarmed. Apply either styptic powder or alum to the bleeding nail. If these are not available you can use cornstarch or flour to stop the bleeding.
Shaking head in matted pets:
Regular grooming, coat maintenance, and ear cleaning can prevent shaking in the first place. This unfortunately occurs in pets that have an excessive amount of ear hair attached to the skin that was removed. Removing matting from the ear can cause ear irritation.
Excessive shaking of the head can cause hematomas:
Excessive shaking of the head can cause hematomas. Prevent your dog from shaking by supervising or using a sock or nylon wrapped around their head, or a “ happy hoody” ( soon in our virtual store dedicated for our pet parents.
Licking/Chewing (clipper allergies, irritation)
This usually occurs in pets that have to be shaved down due to matting. It occurs mostly in groin and stomach regions as these areas are very sensitive. It also may appear during allergy season or in pets that have skin or food allergies. It is very important you do not allow your pet to scratch an any irritations as this can create a larger problem including infections. Let’s not forget their nails are sharper (for some) after been groom so the damage and inured to themselves can be significant.
Skin/Clipper Irritation:
This is again caused most prominently in pets that need to be shaved due to coat condition

Eye irritation/Allergies
The grooming process may further irritate any allergies that affect the eyes as we do use water and shampoo on the face. We are always careful around the eyes, use tear free facial shampoos, but an already irritated eye can make the situation worse.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Please let us know if your pet has any food, environmental or skin allergies.
